A
Message from the
New Jersey Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Commission
Our
nation was extremely saddened by the unimaginable tragic
events of Tues-day, September 11, 2001 in New York City,
Washington D.C., and southwestern Penn-sylvania. Undoubtedly
this is a most difficult time for all of us.
In
the wake of this mournful period, this is the time to remember
the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who said, "shallow
understanding from people of good will is more frustrating
than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will."
Dr. King be-lieved that true peace is not merely the absence
of tension, but the presence of justice.
We offer our wishes of comfort to those injured and emotionally
devastated, as well as our sincere condolences to the families
and friends of those missing and deceased.
